Making Two-Digit Numbers

Today the Parrots were making two-digit numbers with place value money. They had to figure out how many tens and how many ones were in each number. Have a look at what they did:

Sorting Cars

This morning the Marvellous Meerkats made graphs of cars, vans and trucks.

First Mr Davidson put us into groups of three people each.

Next we cut out the cars and sorted them into groups. We all did different groups. Some people sorted the cars by colour. Other groups sorted the cars by size or patterns.

Then we glued the groups onto a big paper.

Finally we showed our graphs to the whole class.

It was hard but it was fun. We had to work together as a team.

Putting Pictures in our Publishing

This week, Mr Davidson showed us how to put pictures into our documents on Google Drive. It was pretty easy. We even learned how to change the size of the picture.  Have a look at some of our work. Now we know how to:

- make a new document
- change the name of our document
- change the font, the colour and size of our words
- put a picture in our document and change the size

Learning With the Chrome Books

This week we started learning with the Chromebooks. Mr Davidson taught us how to find our student folders and make a new document. We all typed our name and the alphabet. Then we changed the name of our document to the date so that we would know when we did it. We were very clever and some of us remembered how to change the colour of the words. Flower Power Wednesday

This week we have given the flower to two students. They did an amazing thing today. At lunch time, Lorenz and Dakshesh found a 20 dollar bill. Instead of keeping it for themselves, they came straight to me and we went to bring it to Whaea Lois. The boys did the right thing and for that, they have the flower this week. Great work boys!

Bookbags!

Congratulations to William, Ryley and Lorenz for bringing their book bags today! It is really important that we bring our book bags every day so that we can move up levels. If you don't have a book bag from last year, you can bring a plastic bag and Mr Davidson will write your name on it. I hope to see more children with book bags (or plastic bags) tomorrow!

UPDATE: Great news! We just got some book bags in at school so if you can't find yours, we've got some. We'll hopefully get those home with the children tomorrow (Thursday) in time for the weekend! (Plus reading logs!)
