For the last two days we've been learning how to make one with different fractions. We used the iPads to take pictures of our work. Have a look at what two of our groups did today:

GEG Student Summit

Yesterday, some of the Meerkats took a bus ride to Hobsonville Point Primary School for the Google Educator Group Student Summit. We made a presentation on how to make animations using Google Slides. Then we got to see what other students were doing in other schools. we learned how to make a blog and how to make a Google site (more on those later, or if you're clever, you'll see what we made). We had lots of fun and learned lots.  Here is the presentation that we made:

Ordering by Long and Short

On Wednesday the Marvellous Meerkats learned about long and short.

First we each looked for one thing that was long and one thing that was short.

Next we got into our groups.

Then we put the shortest one down and the longest one down. They have to start at the same spot.

Have a look at the pictures we took:

Learning About Animals

Mrs Lee came to teach us last week and she showed us some cool things we can do with Google Slides and You Tube. First, we had to pick an animal with our group and find a video about it on the You Tube Channel, All Things Animal TV. Mrs Lee showed us how to embed the video into a Google Slide, so that we could have it in our presentation. Then we wrote some facts that we found out about the animals. Have a look at some of the slides we made:

Making Eighteen

We're almost finished our teen numbers. Today the Parrots and Toucans made the number 18 with lots of materials. Here's their work:

Same Length Scavenger Hunt

Yesterday, when Mr Davidson was at a maths course, we did some maths of our own. Whaea Mele gave us eight blocks. She told us to find something that had the same length as the blocks. We found pencils, felts, scissors and books.

Writing

Here is the writing that we did this week after we had put the pictures in order. Remember, we hadn't read the story before we did this. We hope you enjoy reading them.

Buckle Up!

This week is Road Safety Week. Every day this week at lunchtime we could go to Room 2 and get our picture taken. We had to line up with a partner. Next we buckled our seat belts. Mrs Priestly took our picture. We got some prizes for doing this. Someone will win a booster seat.  You have to be 148cm tall to not use a booster seat in a car. That's all of the Meerkats, except for Mr Davidson.

Making Fourteen AND Fifteen

This week some of our groups were able to make Pic Collages showing all the ways we can make both 14 and 15! They had to be very clever and work together by taking different jobs. Well done. Have a look at all of our work:

Short and Long (and Tall)

Last week we started learning about measurement. On Wednesday we talked about what long and short mean. We all got long and short objects in the class. Then we finished the lesson off by building a tall tower in our groups. We only had a few minutes and we had to work together. The rule was that we could only get one block at a time. Have a look at our winning tower, by Paris, Koringoa and Asafo:
