Shared Writing
This week we did some shared writing in partners. We looked at a picture of two teachers at our school and we wrote a description about them. Here is an example of one, written by Asafo, Dakshesh and Soileti.

Here is the writing that we did this week after we had put the pictures in order. Remember, we hadn't read the story before we did this. We hope you enjoy reading them.

Making a Story
Today in writing Mr Davidson gave us some pictures from a story that we haven't read. We had to work in teams to put them in order (it didn't have to be the right order, it just had to make sense). Then we came up with a story for the pictures. At the end of the lesson we started writing our stories on the chromebooks. We haven't finished them yet, but check back later this week to see what we've written.

Sustainable Coastlines
Today the whole school went to the hall and we learned what happens when rubbish goes to the sea. A man named Ryley (a different Ryley from the one in our class).
First Ryley showed us pictures of rubbish at the beach. We saw plastic bags, drink bottles, gloves, lolly wrappers and sticks.
Then we saw the pictures of a dead bird and a turtle. The bird had lots of rubbish in his belly and the turtle had small plastic ring around him. His shell was squished in the middle.
Next Ryley told us that we could help thes sea creatures by picking up rubbish. Even the land creatures can eat the rubbish. He told us the rubbish gets to the sea through the drain.
So, when we went back to class, we picked up rubbish. We even looked in the drains.
We thought the rubbish was yucky. Seeing the sea creatures made us feel sad and sick because rubbish isn't food.

Unscrambling a Recount
This week Mr Davidson found a recount that was all mixed up. He needed our help to put it back together. We worked in groups to cut all the sentences up and put them in order. It was tough work but some of us figured it out. Have a look at the work from three groups. Which one do you think should be put up on our writing wall? Vote with the form below the pictures.

Writing Publishing
Last week some of the Gorillas and Orangutans had some time to publish their writing from earlier in the term. They each picked a piece of writing and typed it up on Google Docs using the Chromebooks. They added a picture as well. Mr Davidson printed them out and we're going to put them up on the wall. Have a look at our work:

Making Words With Magnetic Letters
Today some of the students in class were making words with magnetic letters. They decided to make a sentence together. This is what they started with. Can you guess what they were going to write next?
