Powhiri

This morning all of the children and teachers at Rowandale School and a few grown ups went to the hall to do a Powhiri for Whaea Lois, Mrs Johnson and Mrs Tofilau. First, we stood up and did a haka while our visitors walked in and sat down on the stage. Then some people talked one at a time. After that we sang a Maori song and a Savali vali Mai.

Here are some videos of the whole thing (thank you Ryley for filming it):

Flower Power Wednesday

Every Wednesday we choose someone who was very kind to someone else in the class. This person gets the flower for the week.

This week, Paris gets the flower for being a good friend and playing with other children. Great work Paris!

Bookbags!

Congratulations to William, Ryley and Lorenz for bringing their book bags today! It is really important that we bring our book bags every day so that we can move up levels. If you don't have a book bag from last year, you can bring a plastic bag and Mr Davidson will write your name on it. I hope to see more children with book bags (or plastic bags) tomorrow!

UPDATE: Great news! We just got some book bags in at school so if you can't find yours, we've got some. We'll hopefully get those home with the children tomorrow (Thursday) in time for the weekend! (Plus reading logs!)

First Day of School!

Welcome back to Rowandale School! We are all in Year 2 now! We picked our class name today and it is: Marvellous Meerkats. Today we played talking ball and we played a quiz about Mr Davidson, he's our teacher. Here is a picture of us at school today:
