ANZAC Day Ceremony

Today the wonderful year 6 children at Rowandale School planned an ANZAC Day ceremony for the entire school (which you may have read about in our Quality Work post). It was a very nice ceremony and it was very obvious that the children and teachers put a lot of effort into it. But don't take my word for it. Have a look at the video that Paris took of it:

Unscrambling a Recount

This week Mr Davidson found a recount that was all mixed up. He needed our help to put it back together. We worked in groups to cut all the sentences up and put them in order. It was tough work but some of us figured it out. Have a look at the work from three groups. Which one do you think should be put up on our writing wall? Vote with the form below the pictures.

Te Kupu o te Wiki

This week's word is maumahara . Do you know what that means? If you're the first Meerkat to comment with the correct answer will get 5 house points. Every other Meerkat who comments will get 2 house points. Good luck!

Making Twelve

This week we started looking at the different materials we could use to show numbers. Mr Davidson made 11 for us and we tried twelve this week. Have a look at our tries:

ANZAC Day

This week we were learning about ANZAC day. We looked at some websites and books and found out lots of information. Then we used Google Slides to make some presentations. It was our first try at both things. Have a look at some of the slides we made:

Fractions

Yesterday we made some posters to show what fractions are. We had to match the words, the numbers and a picture of the fraction. We worked in groups and had to agree on our sorting. Here are three of our posters. We need your help to pick which one will go up on our wall. Fill out the form at the bottom of the post to choose. Don't forget your name!

Adding and Subtracting Words

Today we worked in groups to try to sort out which words mean to add and which words mean to subtract. It was VERY hard. We talked a lot with each other and tried to figure it out. Have a look at the work that one of our groups did:
